A visiting medical consultant is a specialized medical doctor treating in-house hospital patients in addition to treating out-patients in his/her own medical practice. In the Sophien-Klinik Hannover, there are more than 50 visiting medical consultants providing health care for their patients.

  Your medical doctor examines you in his practice. In case that an admission to the hospital becomes inevitable, your health care provider will initiate the admission and continue treatment in the hospital. Even if an operation should become necessary, it can be done by your doctor as the visiting consultant. In addition, he/she will also see to the following in-patient treatment in the hospital as well as to the out-patient after-care treatment after you have been discharged from hospital in his/her own medical practice.
  In addition, your visiting consultant is also your only responsible contact person with regard to all situations relevant to health care.
  The usual flow of constantly changing treating physicians that is usually experienced during out-patient an in-house treatment is eliminated.

  However, there are other advantages to be gained besides those for the patient. The patient's treatment as performed by only one visiting consultant allows for several medical and health care advantages: because - your physician knows you.
